A long, hot weekend.

Oh man was it hot outside this weekend. I loved it...

I spent all 3 days of the Memorial day weekend at my 2nd job, hanging out with the doggies, doing the regular things. Cleaning, playing, feeding, and a bit of doctoring due to fly bites and the like.

One of them tripped me because I took his toy away (a Mt. Dew bottle) and he wanted it back. I managed to twist my ankle a bit, so it's pretty sore right now. My favorite doggy there has seemed to become a retard lately. For about the last 3 weeks he has done nothing but chase his tail. All day long. It was funny at first, but now we're worried about him. They've done tests on him to check for an infection, but he's perfectly healthy. At least physically. Mentally is another story. Poor baby, I hope we can get him to stop.

In my down time, I cleaned the house, mowed the grass, and thought about washing the car. But then Ace mentioned it might rain, and sure enough, 20 minutes later it was raining.

In better news, I have taken this Thursday and Friday off. I can finally relax!! I can't complain though, I really do like being at work. And working at the shelter is awesome exercise, I've lost about 8 pounds in the last 4 months.

I thought about going out to the cemetery to see Grandpa, but I just couldn't make myself do it. I know that people are supposed to do things like that, I just can't yet. Maybe in another few weeks I'll feel better about it. This weekend would have been my grandparents 64th anniversary. My Grandma was planning on staying with my aunt all weekend to keep her distracted, but instead she packed some water and a lawn chair, and went and sat at grandpa's grave all day. She said they've always been together on their anniversary, and this one would be no different. Made me cry...

Ah, sweet summer

The last few days here in T-Town have been very toasty... in the 90's or so. And most beautiful outside. I love weather like this.

I can't wait to get out of work every day, cruise home with the windows down and the radio up, singing along to the tunes. Then get home, put on some shorts, and water the lawn and drink some ice water... honestly, it's awesome.

There's a Drillers (www.tulsadrillers.com) game on Thursday, which also happens to be Ace's oldest boy's last day of school. So we'll probably do that, just as an official kick off to the summer vacation for him. Plus, it's Thirsty Thursday, so all sodas and beers are $1. Can't beat it.

I discovered a family of rabbits have a nest in my backyard, burrowed into the grass clippings. I haven't seen any babies yet though.

And... that's about all. I hope everyone has a great day.

It's Mayfest Time!!

Tonight is the beginning of Mayfest, Tulsa's version of a 'starving artist' fair. I'm not really one to go see the art, but I love walking around to people watch and listen to the local bands. And of course, let's not forget the food. Oh the food.... mmmmm

Tonight I have volunteered to work the beer booth. Should be fun right? I'll be working the early shift from 5 - 830, so I shouldn't catch a whole lot of excitement, but I do love funky people, so I'm looking forward to it.

In case you've never been, check it out.

Season Finales

I love this time of year... it's getting warmer, everything is in full bloom, the sun is out longer, and all the shows on tv are freakin awesome!!! The finales are always so cool.

I have a few favorite shows, like Desperate Housewives, Lost, 24, Grey's Anatomy, and The Unit. For the last couple of weeks, the suspense going on with these shows has had me glued to the tv. They're great. I mean, who would of thought that Meridith and McDreamy would get it on in the closet at the hospital? Or that Edie would burn down Susan's house? Or Michael would of shot Libby and Anna Lucia? Unbelieveable!

The only downfall is when the shows overlap. Like last night. Ace and I rush home after Taco's baseball game (which he played his best game ever in) just in time to catch 24. We had the VCR set taping Grey's Anatomy, but I couldn't start watching it until after 10, so it was close to 1230 by the time I was done with that night's programs. But there was no way I was going to miss it, or wait for tonight to watch, in case I heard someone talk about it at work and spoil all the surprises. No way people, I'd rather be groggy all the next day at work than miss something on my show.

Time for a new post

Not sure what I'll write about, but here goes nothing.

Things have been going well lately, all the rain we've had has managed to soak the yard, forming large puddles, almost daily. Which is great considering we didn't have rain for about 6 months. I'll just be glad when we get some nice, warm days back. I love the sun, it's my friend.

Work's good, the bosses are out again, so I've been left in charge. Which is cool, usually I like being the boss. I'm definitely much busier, but I'm ok with that too.

New car's good, I really love it. I've put way too many miles on it though, so I'll have to scale back my driving a bit. Gas is just too expensive. And hell, so are cars, and this one needs to last me for a while.

Mother's Day is coming up, and as most of you know, I don't have a relationship with my mom. So instead, I'll celebrate it with my grandma. I'm not sure what to get her, probably some birdseed for her bird houses in the yard, and maybe a nice card or small bouquet of flowers. Nothing too big, she doesn't need much. She says my visits are gifts in themselves... sweet lady my grandma. I would like to get her a new set of cordless phones for the house, you know, the ones that have one main base that hooks into the phone line, and the other handsets that only require an electrical outlet. Granny doesn't get around too well, and having multiple phones around the house I'm sure would be nice for her. Not only for convenience (not having to get up and hobble to the phone every time it rings) and safety (in case she slips and falls, or whatever, a phone is always in reach)

Guess that's about all, see, told you it wasn't much.

I have a new pet!

I got a new kitty, his name is Meowser, and he lives at the bottom of my blog!

Isn't he a cutie? Drag your mouse over him and he'll follow it, or click on 'more' and you can feed him, or have him chase a toy. Fun, right? He's a cool kitty. And the best part? No litter box to clean!!

Girl Fight!!

Friday night Mr. Ace and I went out to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. We cruised around to several places, and had quite a bit of fun. Due to the move and the new car we've had to be really tight with money, so we decided a splurge was in order.

The last place we went was fairly full, and we met some co-workers of Ace's there around 11 or so. After being there for an hour or so Ace heads to the bathroom and I head to the bar for another round of drinks for us.

So I'm standing there, and a girl at the bar is bitching at the bartender because her drink tastes bad. He tells her that they just taste that way, she ordered it. He's not giving her something free just because she doesn't like what she chose. And she continues complaining.... So the bartender goes back to work, taking care of the 15 or so other customers waiting for their drinks. This girl's still bitching...

Another girl in line and I strike up a conversation about how our boobs must not be protruding enough to get some attention so we can get our drinks...

And the girl's still bitching... lol

This other lady sitting at the bar beside the nagger turns to her, tells her to shut the fuck up, and stop ruining everyone's time. Spend another $5, buy yourself another drink, and get on with your life.

So... the girl that has been bitching constantly starts throwing punches at the girl who told her to shut up. Right in front of me... it was hilarious! Then the bartender flies over the bar at the girls to get them to stop, but trips and falls right on his knee and shoulder. BAR MAN DOWN!!! He can't get up, so it's not so funny anymore. Oh, and the girls are still boxing. One's bleeding at this point.

So of course, the bouncers rush in and get the girls apart, and the bartender's freaking out on the bitchy girl to get the fuck out of his bar... while hobbling off to go get my beer... lol

Advertising...the advertisements?

I'll admit that I think about weird things. I wonder why people do what they do, and what they hope to gain from it.

Last night I was going through all the junk mail. Reading through Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Drug Warehouse. Then I come across a single page flyer for Home Depot.

"Check your mail for upcoming advertisements from Home Depot"

WTF? They're mailing a flyer, to tell us about mailing a flyer? Surely if we saw this one, we'd see an actual advertisement, with actual products, sales, and specials. Why waste your time advertising a future piece of paper, via the exact same method?

If you're afraid that someone won't see the mailout, why send notification via a mailout?! Why not advertise a mailout via radio or t.v.? That way, those who are interested will start paying attention to flyers in the mailbox.

And to think... someone probably was paid a LOT of money to think that mess up. Idiots.

Porky Returns!!!

Last night Ace and I were watching the evening news, when a story about the immigration rally downtown came on. This particular station has a segment where they show a photo that someone from the community has taken, and where.

What was last night's photo? A picture of a few hispanic children downtown, holding American flags. Taken by whom? Porky himself. No shitting. It listed his full name, but the anchor was quick to point out that he prefers to be called Porky.

Now my question is this... why would Porky be downtown in the middle of an immigration rally? He's not hispanic. Why miss work when it has absolutely nothing to do with you?

Anywho... just thought I'd share.

Sunday afternoon at Granny's

This Sunday when I was done at the shelter I headed out to my Grandma's to check on her and keep her company for a bit.

She got to talking as she always does, repeating the same old stories, but occasionally adding a new one.

Yesterday's was a good one.

Apparently my great-grandfather was a cheater, and was once caught in the act by my Grandma's brother while taking a walk through town.

So my grandma's brother came home and told my great-grandma what he saw. What does she do? Grab her husband's gun, and head to the hotel. She busts through the door, and shoots the lady on top of her husband in the ass!!

So my great-grandma had to spend the night in jail, and my grandma and all of her siblings had to go stay with another relative. My great grandma didn't get in trouble though, she was released once everyone found out what had happened.

After hearing this story... I understand why I'm a tad crazy. It's hereditary.
