Trouble sleeping

I've decided there aren't too many things worse than trouble sleeping. It seems that here lately I lay down and toss and turn for usually an hour or two before I get sleepy. Then I'm lucky enough to wake up or be woken up 10 or 12 times after that. I move from the couch to the bed, back to the couch, back to the bed. Turn on the tv, turn off the tv. Read a magazine, read the grocery ad's, sing tv commercial songs in my head... absolutely nothing.

Last night I tried taking a hot bath by candle light with just some soft music playing to help relax me a bit, and I think it helped. I only laid there for 45 minutes instead of 90. Tonight I'm going to try drinking. Maybe I'll get lucky and just pass out.

I need a break

It's only Monday and I'm already exhausted. My last two weekends have been spent running errands and helping my dad as he builds his house. The physical labor ( I have a desk job) and the heat have really taken a toll on me, and it seems my body just can't rest up enough to get back to normal. Not to mention I haven't been sleeping well.

There does seem to be an end in sight however. I'm off work on the 4th for the holiday, and again on the 8th for... well... because I wanted a day off. So I have a full week this week, then a 3 day week the next. Hopefully I can spend 'Manders Day' getting a manicure or something equally unnecessary.

Kickin ass and takin names

For some reason I just feel on top of everything today. I'm handling every email as I get it, answering every question the minute I'm asked, and just overall getting things accomplished.

I'm not so sure why. I didn't get any more sleep than usual (probably less), nothing exciting happened to get me pumped up, no big day coming up to keep me optimistic. Absolutely nada.

I'm not going to complain. This is a pretty cool way to be.

My Father's Day weekend

Sucked.

As most know, dear ol Dad is building a house. This past weekend he asked my two brothers and I to come help him clean up the mess left behind by the workers (roofer, bricklayer, etc etc). So there I was. 930 on Saturday morning, throwing bricks into a trailer. Then at noon, still throwing bricks in the trailer. 6 hours, 3 trips to the dump, 2 beers, 4 bottles of water, and one bitchin sunburn later, about half of the brick is cleaned up. DAMMIT!!!

Sunday I'm out there again. Ace is bummed that I can't go to the ballgame, but Dad needs me. The times he actually asks for my help are few and far between, so I really felt like I needed to be there. Even though I would of much rather been at the ball game.

Well Sunday is rock picking up day. Good lawd, I thought the brick was bad. The rock was freakin heavy! The 3 of us (brothers and I) took turns mowing the 5 acres to take a break from hauling the rocks.

Lucky me learned how to back a trailer this weekend. Yeehaw!

Sad day

Tuesday evening a co-worker of mine lost her battle with cancer. The funeral is this morning, so needless to say, the mood at work is very glum.

Thankfully the powers that be have allowed everyone who wishes to go to remain on the time clock, so they don't have to decide between making a living, and burying their friend.

Blogger's block

Ever have a time period when no matter what, you just CAN'T find something to blog about? That's what is happening to me right now. I'm digging deep into the dark holes of my mind trying to find something interesting, profound, or even funny to type. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Oh well. Maybe later.

Here comes the bride.

Well last night a girl in my office (who I've become friends with) became engaged. I'm so happy for them. Nice ring too. :)

She better make me a bridesmaid or I'm kicking her ass.

Goin to the doctor

Last night sometime a spider bit my boobie. It hurts pretty bad, and now I have red streaks on my skin. I have a dr. appointment this morning, and I'm pretty dang nervous. Spider bites are nothing to mess around with, especially in Oklahoma.

Wish me luck folks. Oh, and the bad luck continues. Fuck you, karma.

Update on the orphaned cat

Little boy kitty is doing just fine, and has apparently turned into a real asshole. (as most kittens do)

The vet guesses he's close to 6 weeks old, and as healthy as can be. He has 2 names, either Syd-Vicious, or K.T. (Kitty Terrorist)

My luck's changing

The AC is fixed, I have a new battery, and a guy from work is replacing my tire for me. Oh, and ol' girl is getting her stitches out today. Hopefully I won't have any more bad luck for a while.

Everybody cross your fingers....

Time to donate to charity

The bad kharma continues. Saturday morning after laying about I decide to work for a few hours. Head out to the car, turn the key... nothing. SHIT! Dead battery. Ace jumps it, I go to work. Turn the car off, turn the key back over, nothing. SHIT again! A guy from work jumps it, so I give up and go home. I didn't even attempt to work because I was so pissed and I didn't see the day getting any better.

So I get home, pick up the phone, and it's Dad to the rescue! He comes over, uses a wire brush to clean the corrosion off of the posts, and asks me to try again. Still nada. There's not even enough juice to use the power locks or headlights. So we're off to Wal-Mart on a Saturday afternoon. I hate doing that... Anyway, we get the battery replaced, and as soon as I figure out how to re-program the radio and clock it'll be like it never even happened.

Shop cat

Today a co-worker of mine went to Wal-Mart (EEK!) during lunch.

While cruising through the parking lot she spotted a tiny little kitten scared and alone. She, being a cat lover, swooped him up and brought him back with her. It took about 15 seconds for someone to offer to keep the little dude. So after eating the remains of a chicken sandwich and drinking water from a dirty coffee mug, he has passed out in a cardboard box under her desk.

Just try to get me to do some work now....

What did I do wrong?

Apparently somewhere, sometime along the line I've done something very very bad. I'm sure it's payback's for busting that girl's eye in the lake.

First, the blown tire. Now, I went home last night to discover my air conditioner was broken. I had to swelter in 95 degree heat all night... sucked smelly wanker, I tell you.

Now I just have to figure out what to do to get the fate guys back on my side and STOP punishing me. :(
