A cool Thanksgiving story

There's a lady I work with who's younger sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. They have a huge family history cancer, which has taken the lives of most of the women and a good part of the men. My coworker (Debbie) actually had a complete hysterectomy when she was 17 due to cancer.

Because of the family history the sister has had routine check ups and they found it fairly early. She has undergone many rounds of chemo, and will start radiation soon. (All is going very well, the 2 tumors are less than half the original size now)

Anyhow, word got out to Corby's (the sister's) previous employer. The company banded together, raised money, and bought food for Corby so she can have a nice Thanksgiving. A cargo van full of food, worth probably close to $2,000. 2 24lb turkeys, 3 hams, cases upon cases of canned veggies. Eggs, bread, milk. Sugar, flour, salt. Stuffing, potatoes, yams.

Corby has actually had to store the food with 3 other people because she doesn't have enough room.

Now to me, this is just awesome. Their gift has nothing to do with food, other than to make sure she's eating nicely to keep up her strength. It's to keep her spirits healthy. When that van pulled up and the company president hopped out and started carrying in groceries she started to cry. She is completely taken aback at the kindness of people she hardly knew. It gives her one more reason to keep fighting.

Here's to you Corby... get well soon.
